English will followWow, ça fait un bout que je n'ai pas écrit dans mon blogue. Après la frénésie du lancement de mon album et le spectacle de mes élèves de jazz vocal en mai (qui fut un succès!), j'avoue que j'étais un peu essoufflée. Depuis, j'ai beaucoup chanté et je me suis occupée des deux établissements pour lesquels je suis responsable de la programmation musicale, tout en préparant mes spectacles de la fin juin.
C'est le Festival international de jazz d'Ottawa qui commence demain et j'ai la chance d'être parmi les premiers artistes à y performer. C'est cool parce qu'après, je pourrai tout simplement me détendre en allant voir mes artistes préférés pour le reste des 10 jours. Je chante le 24 juin à midi sur la scène OLG qui se trouve sous la grande tente au Parc de la Confédération donc s'il pleut, tout le monde est à l'abri. J'y serai en compagnie de mes complices habituels : Jean-Pierre Allain au piano, Normand Glaude à la contrebasse, Denis Ouellet à la batterie et Mike Tremblay au saxophone. Au programme, la plupart des pièces de mon album. J'en aurai d'ailleurs avec moi sur place pour ceux qui aimeraient s'en procurer. Lien au site web.
Le lendemain, vendredi le 25 à 20h, je chante sur la charmante terrasse du Chelsea Pub (www.chelseapub.ca), premier spectacle d'une série de trois dans le cadre du premier Festival de jazz de Chelsea. Ce mini-festival a été mis sur pied dans le but d'apporter à Chelsea un peu des saveurs du Festival de jazz d'Ottawa. Cette fois-ci j'y serai en compagnie de Garry Elliott à la guitare, Tom Denison à la contrebasse, Denis ouellet à la batterie et Mike Tremblay au saxophone. J'ai prévu y faire quelques pièces de mon album mais aussi un amalgame de standards de jazz, de bossa nova et de chanson francophone à saveur de jazz. Venez y faire un tour ! La terrasse, qui a été refaite il y a deux ans, génère une ambiance vraiment agréable et relaxante. Le nombre de places est limité alors réservez en téléphonant au 819 827-5300.
En passant, Groovus Maximus (jazz latin et funk) sera au Pub le 26 et Servantes (jazz latin et Flamenco) y sera le 27.

Wow, it's been a while since I last wrote in my blog! After the frenzy of my CD release and my jazz vocal students show (which was a success), I must admit that I was a bit out of breath. Since then, I sang a lot and I took care of the two venues I'm responsible for the music programming, while preparing my June shows.
The Ottawa International Jazz Festival starts tomorrow and I have the pleasure to be amongst the first artists to perform. It's very cool since after that I just get to relax while going to all the shows of my favorite artists for the rest of the festival. I sing on June 24 at Noon on the OLG Stage that is under the large tent at Confederation Park (Elgin and Laurier). I will be there with my usual musicians: Jean-Pierre Allain on piano, Normand Glaude on bass, Denis Ouellet on drums and Mike Tremblay on saxophone. I will do most of the songs on my album and I will have some CDs with me for people who would want to get one. Link to the OIJF.
The day after, on Friday June 25 at 8 p.m., I sing on the Chelsea Pub's charming terrace (www.chelseapub.ca). It's the first show of a series of three that constitute the first Chelsea Jazz Festival that has been organized by the Chelsea Pub's owners to bring a little bit of the Ottawa Jazz Festival's flavors in this little village. This time, Garry Elliott will be on guitar, Tom Denison on bass, Denis Ouellet on drums and Mike Tremblay on saxophone. I will, of course, do some songs from my album but I will also sing a variety of jazz standards, bossa nova, funk and French songs.
Come and relax after your week! There is a lot of ambiance on that terrace that has been nicely renovated two years ago. Seats are limited so make a reservation by calling 819 827-5300.
For those who would like to see the two other shows, Groovus Maximus will be there on Saturday and Servantes on Sunday.
