Un lancement réussi ! A successful launch!

Déjà quelques semaines que mon album a été lancé et je commence à atterrir et à rattraper le retard dans mes nombreux projets. Vendredi le 19 mars dernier, la Quatrième salle du CNA était pleine à craquer et les musiciens étaient en feu. Bref, quelle belle soirée qui démarre mon nouvel album en beauté ! Merci à ceux qui ont réchauffé l'atmosphère de leur belle présence !!

J'ai eu des entrevues radios (Radio-Canada, Planète FM, CIMF et CHUO 89,1) dont je mettrai des extraits dans mon site web sous peu. J'y ai également ajouté des extraits de mon album et, bien qu'il soit tout nouveau, mon site a déjà besoin d'être mis à jour. C'est bien vrai qu'entretenir un site demande de la constance !

La prochaine étape consiste à distribuer et à promouvoir l'album et c'est ce sur quoi je me suis plongée activement.

Mon photographe, Claude Brazeau, a reçu deux prix dernièrement : celui du Photographe de l'année en Ontario et le premier prix au Concours Circuit-Photo 2010 ! Félicitations mon cher Claude ! Lire les détails sur son blogue à www.claudebrazeau.com.

Je chante aux Brasseurs du Temps ce samedi (le 17 avril) avec le guitariste Tim Bedner en première partie du groupe Les Moindres (folk-rock). Du plaisir en perspective !

Je vais aussi chanter au Festival international de jazz d'Ottawa le jeudi 24 juin. J'étais enchantée de chanter dès la première journée du festival, d'autant plus que c'est la St-Jean-Baptiste. Je vais sûrement pousser une petite toune québécoise à la jazz, un arrangement de mon talentueux pianiste Jean-Pierre Allain.

Already a few weeks that my album was released and I'm back into normal work into my several projects. Friday March 19th, the NAC Fourth Stage was packed and the musicians were on fire. It was a great evening that makes a wonderful beginning for my new album. Thanks to those who were there with their warm presence. I had a great time!

I had some interviews that I will post on my website soon (Radio-Canada, Planète FM, CIMF and CHUO 89,1). I have also added excerpts from my album. Even though my site is very new, it already needs to be updated. It's true that a website requires a lot of constant attention.

Next step is to distribute and promote the album and that's what I'm at since the release.

My photographer, Claude Brazeau, won two awards lately: Photographer of the Year in Ontario and First Prize at the "Concours Circuit-Photo 2010". Congratulations Claude! Read the details on Claude's blog at www.claudebrazeau.com.

I'm singing at Les Brasseurs du Temps this Saturday (April 17) with guitarist Tim Bedner, opening for Les Moindres (folk-rock), a band from Gatineau. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun. Join us at 7:30 p.m! I will also sing at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival on Thursday, June 24th. I'm delighted to be singing on the first day of the Festival and it's nice that it's also la St-Jean-Baptiste. I'll certainly sing an arrangement of a beautiful song from Quebec made by my talented pianist Jean-Pierre Allain.

L'album est maintenant en processus d'impression. Puisqu'on en parle, j'aimerais souligner l'excellent service de Standard Media Services d'Ottawa à qui nous avons confié la tâche. Je vous invite à visiter leur site web qui est vraiment bien fait et très complet. J'ai été impressionnée par leur rapidité et leur efficacité, surtout au niveau de la communication. J'ai hâte de voir le résultat ! En guise d'avant-goût, voici le dessus de la pochette.

La prochaine étape consiste donc à en parler ! Nous avons contacté les médias et, déjà, un article a été publié dans le site Ottawa Jazz Scene par l'éditrice Alayne McGregor (avec laquelle j'ai été très volubile) :-). Peter Hum va en faire mention sur son très populaire http://www.jazzblog.ca/. Il y a aussi quelques émission radiophoniques qui ont fait ou feront jouer une ou deux pistes. Notons l'émission d'André St-Jacques "Jazz et compagnie" de CHUO 89.1 FM, le lundi de 19h à 20h et CKCU 93.1 FM "In a Mellow Tone", émission de Ron Sweetman le mercredi de 21h à 23h. Il y aura ensuite quelques entrevues médias durant la semaine précédant le spectacle. Des mentions sur Facebook et Twitter sont aussi envoyées ainsi que des messages à ma liste de diffusion.

En passant, avez-vous votre billet pour le lancement ?

Bien sûr, mon site web, tout nouveau, sera mis à jour régulièrement, particulièrement après le lancement puisque nous y ajouterons des extraits de certaines pistes, des extraits vidéos et un tas d'autres informations. Un site web est, on le sait, un item toujours en développement ! :-) À suivre donc...

J'ai la chance d'avoir l'aide de mon bon ami, Jean-Pierre Moisan, gérant du Big Band Caravane avec qui j'ai chanté pendant plusieurs années et également gérant de quelques groupes, dont SOULGRÜV, composé de 10 musiciens et chanteurs. Jean-Pierre est d'une efficacité hors-pair, comme toujours !! Travailler avec lui est un plaisir !

The album is now into the printing process. To do so, we have contacted Standard Media Services from Ottawa whose client services are quite impressive. I encourage you to visit their website which is really well done! They're easy to deal with and are quick to respond to any email or phone call. Their estimate and invoicing system is quite efficient. I'm looking forward to see the result! Hopefully, it should be as good as the services I have had so far with them. Do you have your ticket for the cd release?

Next step is to talk about it! I already had an interview with Alayne McGregor from Ottawa Jazz Scene and Peter Hum will also talk about on his very popular and very interesting blog at http://www.jazzblog.ca/. There will (was) also radio shows who will play a couple of tracks. Among them, "Jazz et compagnie" from CHUO 89.1 FM with André St-Jacques (every Monday from 7 to 8 p.m.) and CKCU 93.1 FM "In a Mellow Tone" with Ron Sweetman, every Wednesday from 9 to 11 p.m. Others to come. I will have some interviews during the week previous to the release concert. Mentions on Facebook and Twitter are also posted as well as messages to my mailing list.

For medias follow-up and promotion, I'm lucky to have some help from my friend Jean-Pierre Moisan, manager of Big Band Caravane, in which I sang for several years, and manager of a couple of bands (SOULGRÜV, to name one). Jean-Pierre Moisan is, as usual, doing an outstanding job.

Then, my website, very new, will be regularly updated, mostly after the release concert. Among other things, we are going to add some excerts from the album as well as videos and other information. Well, a website is always a "work in progress" isn't it? :-)

La dernière étape / Last step

Voilà, mon cédé est maintenant terminé et le master est rendu à l'imprimerie. La dernière semaine s'est passée à écouter les derniers mix et à faire de légères modifications. C'est le moment où Normand du Studio Morning Anthem a peaufiné le son, prenant mille petites décisions qui ont peu à peu façonné l'ensemble du cédé. C'était vraiment fascinant de le voir faire (avec sa bonne humeur habituelle) et de comprendre comment se prépare le master, chose qui m'intriguait au plus haut point. Bref, je suis vraiment enchantée du résultat et j'ai hâte que vous puissiez l'entendre aussi !!

Quand à la pochette, elle est l'oeuvre de Claude Brazeau (photos et graphisme) et elle est maintenant aussi rendue à l'étape de l'impression. Petites modifications de dernière minute, un peu d'énervement, mais tout est maintenant revenu à la normale grâce à Claude qui est d'une grande efficacité. :-)

Je travaille maintenant sur le spectacle de lancement (19 mars à 20h à la Quatrième salle du CNA), le programme, le déroulement, la promotion et la vente des billets. Heureusement, j'ai de précieux collaborateurs qui me donnent un coup de main ce qui me permets de prendre plus de temps pour répéter les chansons et les enchaînements.

My album is now completely done and the master has been sent to the printer. The last week was spent listening to the mix and doing slight modifications. It was when Normand Glaude, from the Morning Anthem Studio, refined the sound, taking tons of little decisions which little by little shaped the overall result. It was really fascinating to watch him (with his usual good humour) and to understand at last how was prepared the master. I'm really happy about the result and I'm very much looking forward that you hear it too!

Then, there is the cd cover which was prepared by Claude Brazeau (photos and graphic design) and which is also ready to be printed. There were last minute modifications that were nerves challenging but everything is fixed now, thanks to Claude's efficiency. :-)

I'm currently working on the release concert (March 19 at 8 p.m. at the NAC Fourth Stage), program, sequence, promotion and tickets sale. Thank God, I'm lucky to have excellent collaborators to help me so I can concentrate a little bit more on practicing.
